Warmlite Three Bar Halogen Heater and Replacement Bulbs

Got this for my cat - she is addicted to heaters since we got some when the boiler broke - after the last halogen heater died (not buying again). It is very good. However I dripped a bit of makeup (Estée Lauder, Double Wear foundation - excellent stuff) into it, right onto a heat bar. Hoped it would be ok and switched it on once dry (yes, I’m probably stupid) and watched it - it quickly started smoking a very stinky smoke. Switched it straight off - thankfully it didn’t continue to burn enough to burst into flames but I think it could have done. Googled butylene - the first ingredient that I could read/spell (tiny writing on the makeup box) - and found out it is highly combustible and difficult to put out with water (requires a foam extinguisher or something I presume). Needless to say, the heater is sadly now going to the tip with a “flammable” label on it, in case anyone picks it up. And the cat says I have to buy another one. I’ll try not to drop anything in it this time. And yes I know it’s summer, but the cat is 18 and skin and bones, and feels the cold. Making her happy is my only goal in life. Or so she thinks. To be fair, it is indeed one of my only goals in life. The child narrowly comes first.

The three bulbs (3x400w) give out plenty of heat which is more or less instant. Each of the three bars has its own button on top of the heater which allows you to choose how many to have on.As mentioned, it does give out plenty of heat which makes it suitable for a medium sized room. The only downside is the amount of light it gives out. Given you need to be in front of it to receive the most heat you can’t for instance have it in front of you to watch tv because you’ll be more blinded by the heater. For me this isn’t much of an issue because mine is permanently placed under my work desk to keep my feet lovely and warm, something it does extremely well on just one bar.The heating part can be set to turn automatically to disperse the heat around a room. Button for this is on the top of the heater with all the others. Unit oscillates quite well and is completely silent in operation.Heater does NOT come with any replacement bulbs. I purchased a box of three replacement bulbs for £7 which haven’t yet been needed.Cable is not really long enough at just 4ft (122cm). With that said I would not recommend putting this on an extension lead unless it is one which is fully unwound as the cable would quickly overheat.Stand is not topple resistant but does have a simple tilt mechanism underneath which will cut the power to the heater should it be tilted. The tilt mechanism can prevent the heater from working if placed on a thick pile carpet. This can easily be solved by placing something solid under the base. Base doesn’t get hot so even a thick piece of cardboard will do.RUNNING COST:Thought I would do a rough guide for those wanting to know how much it costs to use. Assumes your provider charges @15p per kwh. Excellent, compact electric heater. It really throws out some heat, even on the lowest setting. A good purchase.

I bought this to provide some localised warmth on the newly repaired panels of a car in my garage, ready for painting. It does that fine. No frills and not, perhaps, the most elegant of heaters, but good and functional.

It served its purpose but one of the heating elements stopped working after 3 weeks.

Bought for Mom in law as supplementary heat source. Works well for her. Light and easy to operate.

Great wee heat I have bought so many different ones that have been hopeless but this heater is by far the best one the heat is so good heats up the whole room in 5 mins then you need to turn it off cause it’s to warm and the price is affordable
