Great product. Highly recommend. Really well put together and durable.Does exactly what it needs to do wish I’d gotten this first before buying a more expensive one (that this surpasses in every way)!

I had a temporary fly problem, this product solved it for me. Then I passed it to a friend who has a couple of caravan offices on a farm next to the stables. And this has killed many many flies

I chose this insect killer for two reasons. We've used plug-in aerosol mosquito killers from a top manufacturer, which were very effective - but my wife developed a serious lung condition, so we stopped using them. Also, this model is 20 watts and suitable for larger rooms. We've used these types of UV killers before and found them to be very effective, but you can't keep them on in a bedroom overnight.This killer is also very effective, killing a large fly on its first trial run. The UV lights illuminate instantly when switched on (some take a few moments to light-up). The design is clean and compact, but its slim design makes it very unstable when standing on a flat surface, so its inclined to fall over very easily.My major criticism concerns the insect collection tray at the bottom - hence the three stars. This piece of plastic looks like an after-thought, like a lid from a length of plastic cable trunking. It doesn't fit properly and falls out if the killer is tilted even slightly. This is totally unacceptable if the tray is full of dead insects - and for this reason I would not recommend using it in a food preparation area, especially if using the chain to suspend it over a work-top. On delivery, the tray was held in place by a piece of plastic-coated wire! Normally this would be enough for me to return the killer, but I decided I could easily modify the tray to stop it falling out - just by sticking a narrow length of plastic down the middle of the underside of the tray with double-sided flexible tape.The mains cable is a bit short (maybe just over a metre), which could be a problem if suspending high up. Don't consider plugging it into a nearby light socket because it is metal and so MUST be earthed.

It’s performing well

All I can say is wow, we have a fruit fly issue due to owning 4 parrots and with all the fresh fruit in the house for them we got this today 16.01.2020 and within the first 10 mins 40 plus killed already and it's so satisfying to hear them get zapped as it's really loud.Now to the product! Seems well built very bright bulbs, collection tray could do with a redesign but does the job.Best Investment of 2020 so far10/10 awesomeDont waste your time on using white vinegar and making traps

The media could not be loaded.  Now 3 months old and the unit is faulty switching itself on and off. Stopped using the zapper today in case the fault is dangerous. When it was working it was very good, especially positioned high up near the ceiling in summer.It’s a great price, but not if it needs replacing every 3 months!

This thing is worth it's weight in gold! Once it's up and running (somehow the flies know when it's either new or recently emptied and seem to avoid it for a few hours) it literally goes off every 5 minuets during summer. The bigger the fly the bigger the bang. You can tell after a while what you've caught, simply by the sound. Get a Hornet in there and it sounds like a second world war reenactment. Fruit flies are a little pop and your general house fly, those annoying little (insert swear words) are a good bang.Overall, well worth the money and oddly entertaining.

We have lots of fruit flies, as we keep invertebrates (beetles, cockroaches, crabs), so have lots of fruit and veg in one relatively sealed room. Very satisfying zzzap when the flies hit it, made me jump when maybe three hit it at once! It's not in a bedroom, so the noise and light do not disturb us.Hanging chain is very handy, hubby put a bracket on the wall so they can get to both sides - they tend to sit on the wall behind where it's now mounted, so often then fly into it.Speedy delivery and well packaged. Smart unit for what it is! Highly recommended, have done so to others in the invert community.
