Tighten only by hand
As a home builder I move a lot of material around the job site. I decided to get a strapping tool and straps to rebundle extra lumber and other objects. It's good to tension bundle lumber to keep it from warping. The half inch strapping isn't useful though. It said 650 pounds which is more weight than I need but the wire clips just bent when I tightened them with the tension tool. Now I have a thousand clips and 4000' of strap doing nothing. It works fine if you only want to tighten straps by hand or if you are strapping small light duty packages but as soon as you use a tension tool you will just bend it.
