Holistic Select Natural Dry Dog Food, Anchovy & Sardine and Salmon Meal Recipe, 4-Pound Bag, Seafood

We have a 4 year old chocolate lab virtually raised on Avoderm due to his many allergies, vomiting issues, and loose stools. Unfortunately, all his problems may have been lessened, but not diminished. I was once again on the google search for the miracle dog food to help our boy overcome his issues once and for all. Our biggest priority was all the ingredients had to be American made and not a drop from China. We refuse to compromise at the risk of losing our dog to rat poison. Sorry, but we just don't trust China after reading hundreds of sad stories about dead dogs and cats a few years back. Price was not our concern, as we know if you buy cheap dog food, expect to suffer many vet visits over the years. Prime kibble may cost more but look at the ingredients and you will understand why. Heck, even I would eat it--it's that healthy. Holistic select is grain free, our second priority due to our pooche's allergies. Additionally we checked top dog food reviews by the most reputable critics. It rated at the very top. So, we bought it. He has been on this dog food for over a month. Needless to say, it is fantastic! Our boy adores it. He has an amazing shine to his coat, and he clearly has no more allergies. The vomiting is gone, the stools are...well, you know what a dog stool should look like, right, so I won't elaborate. He cannot wait to eat his twice a day regiment. He literally dances with excitement. I highly recommend this dollar a drop dog food (that's what my husband calls it) because you are definitely getting your money's worth and no worries about rat poison or unhealthy additives.

Well if you are reading my review, you probably have a dog with allergies and are looking for a solution. I feel for you. I have 3 American Bullies. I raise and show them. One of them has food allergies so I wanted to give this a try. The best two food that I have had the best luck with in minimizing the rashes on my girl are these two brands  CANIDAE Grain Free PURE Elements Adult Dog Formula Made With Fresh Lamb, 24 lbs  and  AvoDerm Natural Grain Free Salmon Meal and Potato Formula Dog Food, 24-Pound . I buy both on Amazon and rotate between them. They just work the best. My two younger dogs ate this stuff no problem but the one with allergies would not touch it two days in a row. Then the two that ate it started smelling like fish. She does not smell that bad on Avoderm and she eats it readily. I am going to try the lamb version of this as I am still optimistic about it based on other reviews. I will update this review next week. My girl is on a small dose of prednisone for the rest of her life. I also supplement feed her a hypoallergenic food we make at home that i learned about from this book  Pet Allergies . This book is a great read and you will actually be pretty amazed and disgusted at what is put into cheaper dog foods. Anyways, there is my girl pictured below and I hope this helps your search!UPDATE: I received my new bag of the Lamb flavored version of this food. My female with food allergy issues did not refuse to eat it like the salmon flavor. I slowly weaned her off another brand and she is on this brand completely now. Stools haven't completely firmed up yet but that is expected from the transition. But the good news is that the rash at the base of her tail is doing as good or better than of any food I have tried to date. And she hardly lick hers paws on this food. Still have her on a low dose of prednisone but may try to wean her off and see what happens. I will update this review again in a couple of weeks.UPDATE 2: Still doing great on this food. perfect stools which makes it nice for pick up. I recommend buying this book and reading it. It is very informative.  Pet Allergies It is crazy what food manufacturers are legally allowed to put in dog food versus human consumption. My vet says that he has had many dogs that live a long fruitful life on low dose prednisone with no issues. Our girl Xena, has been on it for a couple of years now. The breed that I own, an American bully, English bulldogs are prone to skin allergies. This comes from years of in-breeding and line breeding to obtain a certain look. We have also tried the nex-gard flea wafers but they made my dog aggressive and didn't help her. So we know it is not a flea or mite biting issue. It is the food. There is a hypoallergenic food recipe in that book that we make weekly and add it to her dog food so she is not eating only the dog food. The dog food is good because this brand does have probiotics for digestion and omega 3's in in it for their skin. I also recently found that my dogs lose their hair from using flea shampoos. The chemical are too harsh. Thought it was the food and it turned out to be the shampoo. Use baby shampoo only now.

If your dog has anal gland issues THIS IS THE FOOD FOR THEM. My schnauzer has expressed her anals 30+ times a day. After the vet couldn't figure it out I decided to put them on this food and it has been a miracle since. NOT once has she expressed in 8 months! My other 2 with no allergies do very well on it.MORAL OF THE STORY:Invest in great dog food and your dog will be going to less vet visits / health problems throughout its life. This food has amazing ingredients and will forever be our pick!

This is the absolute best dog food for my guys. I don't know who the guy is that got the bag with old food, but I have been getting the Holistic Select Adult Dry dog food (Seafood) for the last two years and have never gotten anything but a fresh bag that expires one year later. I have two English Bulldogs, one with sever food allergies (had bad potties and HORRIBLE bubbles, like burning garbage kind of horrible) and sensitive skin issues. Once I changed them over to the Holistic Select, all the problems went away, and I'm talking like immediately went away. This is a little descriptive here (sorry), but with all seriousness: Poops went from soft-serve to tootsie-rolls and even though they still have gas (they're bulldogs)... there is almost NO ODOR!!! That alone is a blessing from the gods. Only down side I've noticed is their breath is slightly on the seafood side of things, but not in a horrible terrible way. I just cannot recommend this band of food enough. If your dog has food allergies and skin allergies, please give it a try. My vet did the whole Prilosec thing (I still think he gets a kickback from them) and I about slapped him afterward for not recognizing it as food allergies. My little guy suffered for a year and a half just taking those pills. If you do decide to try this I hope it helps you and your buddy(s)!

Great food, we have been receiving this on automatic order. Never a problem until today when the outside of the bag came like this. What the heck??? This is disgusting. I've no clue what is all over the bag, but along with this the bag looks filthy. I'm wondering where the company keeps their dog food to get the bags to this point. I don't expect a spotless bag but come on, no one wants to touch this and if dog food is sitting out in the elements (heat, moisture, creatures crawling around on it), I'm not sure I want my dogs eating it.

J'avais changé la nourriture de mon chien pour une autre marque que je pouvais obtenir chez amazon par abonnement. Donc, pas besoin de me casser la tête, le sac était livré à ma porte une fois par moi. Malheureusement, le système digestif de mon chien ne s'y est pas habitué. Elle est de retour avec Holistic sélecte et je vois une différence. Sa digestion étant meilleure, le nettoyage de ma coure arrière est maintenant plus facile…...

Excellent food according to my dog. He does not know how overpriced it is. Find it elsewhere at half price and enjoy it.
