Man of Steel is the best cinematic version of the superman origin story and of ...
I'm a fan of the Man of Steel movie. First time a i watched in theater I had a little problem with editing and how much action was packed in 3rd act of the film. However, now that I have watch the move over a half a dozen time those issues are invisible to me. Everything appears to develop and flow naturally. Man of Steel is the best cinematic version of the superman origin story and of the best super hero films available. The books goes into great detail on the design and care that went into all the sets, characters designs, and scenes. If you are fan of Superman, the Movie Man of Steel, director Zack Snyder, or movie making in general, consider to give this book a look.

GREAT BOOK!!!!!
I LOVE SUPERMAN!!!!!!In Man of Steel, director Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen) and producer Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight Trilogy) have delivered a stunning new vision of Superman that is both fresh and familiar. Man of Steel: Inside the Legendary World of Superman explores the remarkable creative process behind the movie and showcases the exceptional concept art that shaped its unique visual style. From the stark alien vistas of Krypton to the down-to-earth warmth of Smallville, this book uncovers the intensive world-building process that makes Superman’s universe both thrilling and believable. Also featuring in-depth interviews with the cast and crew, and candid on-set photography, Man of Steel: Inside the Legendary World of Superman is the ultimate insider’s look at one of the most electrifying movies in recent memory.

Clear the Coffeetable
This big, beautiful book is the coffee-table book for all who love the latest interpretation of The "Man of Steel." The preliminary artwork by the production designer is spell-binding. To see it realized by the set designers and matte artists gives you a glimpse into the scope of making worlds come to life. You'll need some of this "behind the scenes" knowledge to impress your friends. It also comes in handy as a true test of your soul-mates ability to tolerate some of your preferences. Wonderful.

Man of art
As the other reviews read, I too love the movie despite some of the flaws such as the dark over tones and that ending, still a great interpretation of the character. I was very eager for this book before the movie had opened. I own the Superman Returns book by Wallace and thought since this was a better movie, this would be a better book. The Superman Returns book has a lot more information broken into sections like storyboards and effects where this one is lacking those behind the scenes moments. The book has a beautiful hardcover that has grooves of textures, the paper is of a high glossy quality and the artwork is great. For that I give it the 4 stars although you could drop a 3 on it because no you don't get any behind the scenes, you won't see the costume changes and developments that ANY Superman fan would love to see. Storyboards, production art,the cg shots by the green screen, stuff like that is what you look for but won't get. The first almost half of the book focuses on Krypton more than the movie did and you don't really get much of Superman doing those Superman things he does in the movie like some flying sequences or the fight scenes. Maybe to see a few pages of the script would also been pretty cool,it's just page after page of production art, which is beautiful but you want to see other artist renditions and comparison to what ends up on screen. Your gonna have to make a decision on this one if you want to add to a collection of books like these or add it to a Superman collection. If you want to make a wise purchase, wait for it to drop way down in price like the Superman Returns and then pick it up, then you won't feel like dropping the 3 on this.

This book was overlooked.
Whether you liked the movie or not, making the alien (Krypton) culture seem modern and believable was undeniably a difficult design challenge - especially because it comes from such an archetypal comic book aesthetic. This book is a detailed showcase of the thought process and art direction that went into the ornate, baroque, yet ultimately organic flavor of the final design for the film. Definitely worth having in the collection for fans of concept art.
