Not quite what I expected, but does provide useful pitch correction
The Mic Mechanic (MM) works well enough to keep it, but I was disappointed with the overall performance as compared to the demo videos. My first hurdle resulted from the very brief instructions provided with the MM. Thankfully, the tech support via email was very prompt and helpful. I suspect that the tech guys frequently answer the same questions from new users, so I would think an upgrade to the manual is in order. Aspects such as gain adjustment, connection to a recorder having phantom power, which features are enabled-disabled by the footswitch, etc. are all common concerns that could have been better addressed in the user manual. As for actual utility for my situation (recording), the pitch correction is the best feature. I don't need or use the delay and reverb effects, but they tested OK and may be useful for live performances. The reverb and delay adjustment is obvious and easy to use.My main disappointment is with the "tone" feature that, in my experience, doesn't affect the sound very much. I installed a firmware upgrade that provided normal and less-bright settings, but neither seems to alter the sound as expected. I had hoped to benefit from the compression and EQ features but haven't had much luck. Perhaps your results will be better, but in case the MM provided no improvement over the setup I already had with a Boss BR800 and Tascam DP-32SD recorder.

A good addition to the home studio
This unit is a relatively inexpensive unit providing reverb/delay/EQ effects for vocals in a small, convenient package. The unit can be used with or without any effects while still providing pitch correction as well. While the "manual" provided with the unit is "adequate", at best, there are several videos available on YouTube which provide additional guidance in setting up the unit for individual use. I found that phantom-powered, dynamic microphones tended to be a bit noisy and cardiod microphones worked much better for quiet, clean vocals. I also preferred a Shure SM-58 to the Helicon MP-75 but only because I tend to use the proximity effect of the SM-58. Overall, I am very happy with the performance and function of this device, even though it takes some time to zero in on the best settings for your individual use.

Does a handful of things, but does them well and makes a very real difference in vocals
I purchased this and the TC-Helicon VoiceSolo FX150 at the same time. The FX150 was intended for our guitarist and the Mic Mechanic for our keyboardist who is using a Mackie SRM150 personal monitor. Hand's down, this is vastly superior to the FX150 when it comes to vocal enhancement in my opinion. It's relatively easy to use this to maximum advantage. The controls are simple, and the fact that this does a few things (but does them well) is what give this a lot of bang for the buck. I am not going to rehash other reviews or the product specs. If you want to delve into the capabilities and how to use this pedal I recommend watching TC-Helicon Mic Mechanic - Quick Start Guide on YouTube. I found that while researching before I made my purchase and have used it a few times since in lieu of paper 'manual' that is not that friendly in my opinion.I do like the fact that this pedal comes with a power supply - many do not or depend on batteries. This will NOT run off of batteries. Another feature that I like is this pedal is configurable via the USB port and an app called VoiceSupport that required a PC or Mac. You can update your firmware as well as download FX presets. The two mic cables that ship with this are a bundled add-on. They are decent for stage use, but I am not sure of how good they are in the studio.Bottom line is this does make a subtle but very real difference in vocals. It is not going to work magic if you cannot sing, but it also doesn't require an advanced degree to configure and operate. To me it's worth every penny.

Not worth the money
I found this item to be overrated. I've had such good results with Amazon orders that I rarely ever return anything. But this one went back after a 30 minute test trial with the band. The onboard reverb/echo effects weren't superior to those on the main board and the pitch correction (although we didn't need it) seemed invisible regardless of the dial's setting. Of course, this could have been a defective product. Bottom line, this one just wasn't worth $150.

The overall sound of this thing is very good with the "tone" engaged
The overall sound of this thing is very good with the "tone" engaged. The gain is REALLY hot and all of the clubs we've played have asked me to turn it down quite a bit. I had to do the same with our PA as well.I wish the speed of the delay could be adjusted on the front of it and not only via tap (if it can I haven't found it yet).

Excellet addition to vocal effects
The TC=Helicon Mic Mechanic really puts your mind at ease regarding set up for tonal sound for singing. The EFX are great and you have so many choices. I love the tone control because no one in our group seems to know how to properly set the equalizer for maximum sound. My only disappointment is that the voice correction is not that effective. It does overall, however, improve the sound quality of my singing.

Just ok
If you have no means of applying any effects, or need to be able to turn them on and off with a pedal (ie. echo vs no echo), you will like this product. Tone correction sounds somewhat mechanical if you turn it up too high.If you're a beginner this product is for you. On the other hand, intermediate or pro, you will not be getting your money's worth... This is why I gave it 3 stars.

Glad I bought it...
If you have a PA system that sounds bad, this thing will make it sound 10 times better. I play guitar and sing and before I could barely hear myself even with the speaker towards me but now everything is so much clearer and defined. The tone button adds a lot to your sound and the reverb and delays sound better than our mixer's. The pitch correction is subtle but it can help. You still have to sing with effort as this will not make up for bad singing, it just gives you a slight nudge if you're just a little flat...it does however help your vocals come out better. Very simple to use. Once you know how to control the mic gain, feedback is a non issue. Glad I bought it...
