repaying a 70's debt
In the early 70's, I accused a friend of stealing my Poco album. it has been a thorn for 50 years so I bought the album to surprise him with next week, for our 50th HS reunion. still think he has it but thought I'd replace it.

Iconic Album
This classic Poco Album still withstands the test of time. The songs are amazing, the vocals great, and the musicianship cutting edge for those days. The blend between rock, country and folk created a new lane and genre for music in the '70s, and influenced some many other country rock artists that followed in their footsteps. Check it out.

Pointing toward the Eagles
This album shows where pop/rock was heading, and would arrive with the Eagles, though anybody who remembers these guys prefer them to the slickness of the Eagles. They lasted forever in one incarnation or the other, but really only their first two albums have what I consider the real Poco. Richie Furay has one of the best and purest tenors in rock, but his persona is of the too-sensitive soul (he is now a minister) so this can get a little too sweet at times.George the drummer has such a high, high harmony in his voice he could have been a bluegrass singer. Rusty Young (Neil's cousin) is still the best rock and roll steel guitarist in history. All the major guitar strangling done on this album is him. Live he writhed around on the floor like Hendrix.Great songs. They could really cook. Great singing. real country and real rock. Great combo of balls and heart.

A nice, if a little silly first album from a band that really never got its due. The highlights for me include the title track, "Grand Junction", Just in case it happens", and "Consequently, So long."

Good stuff!
There’s just something nice about Poco. It’s a “feel-good” band, and the dynamic vocals and instrumentation are absolutely phenomenal.

Who started "country rock?"
Was it the Dillards? Dylan? The Flying Burrito Brothers? Byrds? Eagles? New Riders of The Purple Sage? How about Poco?Poco blended great musicianship, good songwriting and wonderful harmonies to be the standard bearers of the genre.Poco didn't enjoy the success of the others (excluding NRPS and the Burritos), but they were the best at what they did.Rusty Young's steel and those great harmonies - can't beat 'em.

CD molto bello consigliassimo

Their first LP with the original band. Still stands the test of time.
