Shun Kanso 9" Combination Honing Steel

I wanted a better and more solid metal honing tool for my kitchen knives. This worked great and has an angle guide not seen on any others I've come across.

I have used several honing steels but this one is the best so far, sets a very sharp edge that lasts longer, also finer grit leaves a better edge.

Easy to use, keeps knives very sharp.

Just received today. Was expecting it's made in Japan but it's made in China.

I purchased this $40. honing rod because I am a perfectionist and never knew if i was doing the correct angle when honing. Sure, we see the chefs on TV and i only WISH i could be as confident, but i do splurge on expensive knives....and want use them to my advantage!i use a knife for my job as a floral designer (my boss has our work knives done professionally) and need a sharp knife to COOK with!The box had zero instructions and while i see a flat side on the rod... what does this mean?I am lost!so if you are a normal person ....who cares about doing instructions correctly.... skip it!PS I WILL remember to update this IF I find any help!

Made in China. Not of Japan or Shun quality.I'm not the first one to notice the discrepancy. I just wish I had seen the prior review. I would not have bought this.Also, I contacted the seller's customer service three days ago and they are non-responsive. So, don't expect help or a refund.

The handle isn't made of the wood used in the kanso line of knives, it's just cheap plastic.

The top broke off. It’s not a 19$ honing. It should last longer
