I have ordered two bottles monthly on subscription of Thorne Resveracel for around 3 and a half years from Amazon, on the recommendation of my doctor for general health and immune boosting. Never a problem. However, this last couple of bottles I received were different. The pills in them were dark greenish brown, not the usual light greenish yellow they always were in the past. The pill pictured at the top of this product page is the correct color. The pills I got on my last order were much darker and also had an unpleasant pungent smell. Neither the color nor the smell was usual for this product. I've provided a pic comparing the two. The pill on the left is the correct color, the pill on the right is not. The pill on the right is actually much darker than it looks in the pic. Both bottles I received contained these darker color pills. Neither were past their expiration date. I was able to get a refund from the third-party seller on Amazon after much back-and-forth correspondence. I then went to the Thorne website and ordered one bottle from there to check it out. I received it today, and it was the normal, lighter color. For this product at least, you might consider ordering it directly from Thorne. The product page has a text saying that the pills might vary in color from order to order, but they shouldn't vary THAT much, or smell so different. That said, Thorne is expensive, but very high quality. I will continue to order them from Thorne instead of Amazon from now on.

I've read so many great medical claims about nicotinamide riboside -- and reservatrol -- so I was very excited to try this product. Along with slowing the aging process, reputedly, there are other benefits. However -- and this is a BIG HOWEVER -- there are several reputable articles citing that nicotinamide riboside encourages tumor growth and possibly causes cancer in higher doses. The whole issue is currently still undergoing more research. This makes me think twice about how much of this I want to take, despite all the miracle claims. I'm guessing that a smaller dose is probably safe. Just guessing.On the positive side, I've been taking it for more than a month, and do feel an increase in energy and some subtle improvements in skin tone, which is a real bonus. I also find I need less sleep -- and I suspect this supplement is responsible for an increase in insomnia I've had lately. I just don't need as much rest now, and this is the only supplement that I added to my routine.I believe Thorne Research products are among the best, always great quality. However, I should add here that I have no luck communicating with them when I ask questions on their main web site. I have no confidence in getting a straight answer from the company, since they don't respond.
